Row 1000 Meters

QOD: CIRC is only 6 days away! What questions do you have regarding the event, day, planning, etc.? We will be answering the questions throughout the day to ensure everyone is on the same page.
Congratulations to Amy, Alida, Sammy and Josh R. for their great performances at this weekend's Midwest Winter Challenge in Ann Arbor. All four finished top twenty!

Yay Jackie! You are so ready for CIRC!
We missed everyone at the Midwest Winter Challenge. It was a lot of fun!
QOD - What is a peer coach/coxswain supposed to do exactly besides encourage their rower?
And if you're rowing a 500m event, how should you work your pacing? If you do 20 big pulls at the beginning you're probably already at 250 meters so do you start sprinting at that point? Or take less big pulls or just sprint for the whole thing?
For the relay do you place your fastest teammate last, the second fastest first, and the other two in the middle?
I'm sure I can think up more questions later! It's too quiet on the message board today.

Great questions. Your peer coxswain -- if you opt to use one -- will help keep you on your race strategy, and can keep an eye on the competition if you're in a close race.
I'm actually scheduled to talk with world-class rower this afternoon re: relay strategy so more to follow.
When it comes to the 500 it is a pure sprint... Go hard. Period.
