During my short time with CrossFit AH (I just joined the gym about 1 month ago….been doing CrossFit for about 2.5 months). A couple things that stand out for me regarding the CrossFit AH coaches, is the professionalism and thorough knowledge of the sport. Being so green to this, I have questions for the team about programming, nutrition, form…etc. and I always come away with a breadth of information and support.
I am consistently challenged at every WOD physically and I especially appreciate the personalized guidance. I have many things to work on and the team keeps me focused on solid and proper technique.
One of my goals is to compete for the 2011 regionals…pretty hefty, I know…however, every day I walk out of that gym, exhausted and all, I am reassured that I’ve got a great group of coaches behind me that will make my goal a reality. Thank you guys…I’m so very much enjoying the experience!!!
I used to think I was in good shape until I joined going to EAD Crossfit just over a year ago, and I was way off. The workouts have been very challenging, but also very rewarding. The entire group is fun to workout with and very inspirational. I take pride that I able to workout with all of you.
The coaches are top-notch! They go above and beyond to teach correct form, motivate all of the athletes, and make sure that everyone is getting what they want to get out of Crossfit. They are genuinely excited about the progress their athletes make. I play handball at a professional level, and I can honestly say that I am in the best shape and playing the best handball of my life. I feel very confident that I am in superior shape than any of my opponents...and I am. All of this is thanks to EAD Crossfit!
"I was nervous when I first started the CrossFit workouts, but now I love them, (even though they kick my butt.)"
"This place is the best kept secret in the Northwest suburbs!"
"EAD's personalized training program got me on the podium in my first year of competition!"
"In six weeks I've improved my swimming more than in the previous thirty years."
"With your analysis of my strengths and limiters, and the resulting program, I ran my best marathon in 15 years."
"Elite Athletic Development gave me a personalized training plan that helped me meet my goals and improve overall performance. The results have been dramatic."

The Crossfit program is, and has been for me, transformative. As I approach my 50th birthday, I find myself in better physical condition and more excited by the journey to better health and fitness than I ever thought I would be again.
During my early days at EAD, I was always apprehensive of the WOD's and my inability to complete them and how that might be perceived by the EAD community. That uneasiness was erased quickly. I want to say that the coaches were compassionate and patient (they were) and the athletes supportive and encouraging (they were). But really, its just that they had seen it and experienced it so many times before and they knew so much better where the program could take me. Now I may still fear a WOD but its really much more an excited anticipation - knowing for certain that the WOD will crush me but after I will be better, fitter and stronger as a result.
Because the program is so good and logical, you can often do a WOD on your own. But Jim and Josh in particular are so good at knowing your weakenesses and barriers (mine are legion), that you get so much more as a result of their advice and direction. And the encouragement, support and community I got early on from the athletes makes me want to do better for them so I can continue to move from encouragee to encouragor (not sure either of those are actual words) of other new members.
I can't wait to get to 50 now and do the Filthy 50's on my b-day. You know I'm going to crush that one!
I can't say enough about EAD - I started Boot Camp one day a week via the Park District just about 1 year ago (I could not even do a push up and I could barely jump rope)... thanks to EAD's trainers for their tough love and motivation, it's a year later and I am in my 6th month of Crossfit going about 5 times a week! I went from not being able to do a push up to doing push ups with rings (thanks to yesterday's WOD) and tonight, I finally got my first double unders (Josh is my hero today for those!).
I used to look over at the Crossfitters lifting weights above their heads and hear all the groaning thinking to myself, I could NEVER do that!! Now, I've learned you can do anything with some hard work, good training and an AWESOME community of EAD friends to support/motivate you along the way. The results... not only am I stronger, more motivated and feel better all around; I also dropped a whole size!
Thanks EAD (especially, Karen, Jim and Josh) - you changed my life!
